Biography

Anastasia Schipanova is a contemporary artist working within her own authorial direction, Energy Abstract, a practice that brings together painting, psychology, and philosophy.

She was born in Russia. Her mother is an economist, and her father is a ship captain. Growing up as a captain’s daughter, Anastasia spent much of her childhood at sea and began traveling extensively from an early age, eventually visiting more than 70 countries. This constant movement across cultures and continents shaped her deep interest in nature, global processes, and the diversity of human experience — elements that later became central to her artistic worldview.

At the age of sixteen, she began to pursue painting professionally. She studied under Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, whose mentorship played an important role in the early development of her practice. Schipanova’s works quickly attracted the attention of the art community and were presented at international exhibitions and competitions. Over time, she developed a distinctive visual language based on the exploration of energy, color, and subconscious processes — a direction she defines as Energy Abstract.

Anastasia Schipanova regularly participates in international exhibitions and art events across Europe, the United States, and Asia, including projects in New York, Paris, Luxembourg, Moscow, Tokyo, Monaco, and Venice. Her practice encompasses both group and solo exhibitions, such as Echo of the Universe, Space, and Energy of the Future. She is a recipient of numerous international professional awards, including the UNESCO — supported Woman Art Award 2020 (Italy) and participation in the 58th Venice Biennale collateral project May You Live In Interesting Times — MUSA International Art Space Woman’s Essence Show (Bangladesh Pavilion); Top-60 Masters 2020 and Best of 2023 in the ArtWorld by Art Tour International (USA); Best Artist of the Year at the Fashion TV Awards; and the Artist of the Future Contemporary Art Curator Magazine Award (Dubai).

Since 2016, Schipanova has also worked as an art columnist, publishing essays on contemporary art and cultural processes. In 2026, she will release her book Energy Abstract in English and Russian — a project developed over fifteen years, offering an in-depth exploration of her artistic philosophy and a conceptual guide to expanded states of perception.

Schipanova holds a degree in psychology, which significantly informs her artistic methodology. She explores the relationship between consciousness, color, and emotional experience, creating what she describes as «energy portraits» — intuitive visual manifestations of inner states. Her work draws on ideas of metaphysics, the evolution of consciousness, and cosmology.

«Each color possesses its own vibration. In combination with form, it generates an emotional impulse capable of transforming the perception of reality,» notes the artist.

In 2019, she founded the scientific and psychological art project Eternal Life, which brings together artistic practice and the exploration of human potential. The project reflects on themes of longevity, quality of life, and the expansion of consciousness.

The visual symbol of her artistic practice is the infinity sign, representing cyclicality, balance, and continuous transformation. Since 2018, the multicolored infinity symbol has become the official emblem of the Energy Abstract style.

Works by Anastasia Schipanova are held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
